International
Rescue Committee (IRC) has identified several
victims of human trafficking in Phoenix, including Muslim
women.
Human trafficking is nothing short of modern-day slavery.
It is the act of subjecting a person to involuntary
servitude, peonage, debt bondage or slavery, for labor
or commercial sexual services, through the use of force,
fraud or coercion. See www.traffickingaz.org
To
help these women start a new life,
concerned friends are gathering on January 26, 2007
to assemble 100 tote bags full of necessities. (i.e.
toothbrushes, shampoo, bath towels, etc.)
3
ways YOU can help:
1.
Sponsor tote bags ($25/each) by sending a check payable
to AMWA, 3151 E. Indigo Circle,
Mesa 85213. Please write "tote bags" in
the memo line; or
2.
Donate items from our Wish
List (click on the link) by dropping them off
at Sadaf’s house on January 27, 2007.
3.
Assemble tote bags at Sadaf’s house on January
27 from 10am to 12 noon. Families are welcome and
children are encouraged to attend and be part of our
assembly line!
If you decide to help out, please confirm by responding
calling Uzi (480) 390-2338 or Sameena at (480) 239-7140.
